Andrew’s Priorities
Control Growth to Protect the Character and Beauty of Our Area
Andrew Mitchell supports maintaining a less dense unincorporated area with targeted Planned Growth Areas. Keeping a one house to 5 acre land use plan will preserve the rural character of Williamson County's rural areas. The County must work in partnership with its cities and towns to guard against regional sprawl that will alter what makes Williamson County special.
Ensure Our Schools Are Always the Best in Tennessee
As a father of two children in Williamson County Schools, Andrew Mitchell is committed to ensuring students have ample funding and that every dollar is used wisely. He will work to properly fund our public schools while holding the system accountable for being good stewards of their budgets. Future development needs to pay for new and upgraded schools, and growth decisions should always account for school capacity impacts.
Keep Residents and Families Safe
As a military veteran, Andrew Mitchell will always put his full support behind our sheriff’s deputies, firefighters, and paramedics who go to work every day to keep us safe. We must ensure our first responders are adequately equipped to meet the needs of a growing county — we cannot allow our police and volunteer fire department to fall behind in staff, equipment or technology. Data-driven budgeting should guide future investments in Williamson County law enforcement and emergency preparedness.
Protect Taxpayers with Responsible Spending and Low Taxes
Andrew Mitchell will work to create county budgets that are guided by fiscally conservative principles. Williamson County should not spend money it does not have on unnecessary programs, or raise taxes on citizens before exhausting every alternative. Responsible spending also means smarter government. Andrew supports revising all Williamson County codes and regulations to modernize and simplify them. Less burdensome regulations will reduce costs and benefit all taxpayers.
Prioritize Road and Highway Improvements to Reduce Traffic
Andrew Mitchell believes we must plan for road and highway improvements before problems arise — not after. We should never have to hear the phrase "we needed those improvements yesterday." Andrew will support bringing in businesses and developments that partner in funding those improvements, so that growth pays for itself rather than burdening existing taxpayers.
